Do you only film in Oregon?
The short answer is no! I do not only film in Oregon, I actually advertise and market in all of the northwest including: Northern California, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Just because those are the states listed doesn’t mean I don’t/won’t travel to places that are not listed above! I love going to new places (or old places) and meeting new people and having new experiences. For instance, do you want to get married in Iceland and have it filmed? Give. Me. A. Call. I have my passport ready at all times!
How long do you typically spend filming a wedding?
I’m with you from the beginning to the end. To put in context, I’m there when you start getting ready and I leave when the reception events have settled down. You need not to worry, I will be there capturing it all.
Why do I need a filmmaker for my big day if I already booked a photographer?
This is probably one of the most common questions I get, because at this day and age, professional documentation can come at a hefty price tag, trust me I understand completely, I also got married and planned an entire wedding. The costs can jump up to astronomic proportions, however, both film and photo serve different purposes. Are they both documenting an event, such as a wedding? Yes! However, the documentation comes in two completely different forms and with that you get completely different experiences. Photography is a lasting image, you can hang it on your wall, you can touch it, you can experience it’s physical form. Film is an entirely different experience. You get to see and re-live a moment in time over and over again. Do you not remember what was said at your ceremony? Rest easy, I filmed it. That is why film and photography are BOTH so important on your big day. Photography will capture the moment, film will let you re-live it any time, any place.
Is filming going to be intrusive during my day? Will it look or feel scripted and unnatural?
Short answer to both, absolutely not! I pride myself on the ability to make your day less stressful, in fact, I want to remind you why we’re all here and for you to revel in the moment. I don’t want to be your shadow or have you feel like you can’t get any space. I’m prepared to be as close or as far away as I need to be in certain moments. I like to float around the room, capture everything and everyone from all angles. Take in the space and make the space yours. I don’t create moments, you do. I simply record them. Will I ask you to walk towards me or think of a flattering pose or movement for a shot, sometimes yes, but I won’t script your day! In essence, you script it by living in the moment and that can’t be planned.
How do filmmakers and photographers work together during the event? Does it make the process longer or more difficult?
No, filmmakers and photographers at the same event will not make your day harder or make the documentation process longer. For me, every photographer is different, but I’ve assisted photographers on shoots and I myself have photographed events and I approach filmmaking with the same mindset of a photographer. Capture the moment! There may be some situations where a photographer will pose you a certain way and take some shots of it and then I will ask you to introduce movement into the pose, but that’s usually the extent. I talk with each photographer BEFORE the big day arrives to work out any details so we make the day flow smoothly. This ensures we aren’t in each others most important shots and guarantees you don’t have to worry about us!
How does my film get delivered?
